What inspired our selection among a plethora of existing options? A solid supermarket in Surulere is one where you can find good stuff without stress.
You want a place that’s got fresh fruits and veggies, a mix of local and foreign products, and shelves that are not all over the place.
It should be clean, easy to move around, and not overpriced.
In the following sections, we provide a more detailed review:
1. SPAR Market Surulere

- Address: Leisure Mall, Adeniran Ogunsanya St, Surulere, Lagos 101211, Lagos
- Operating hours: Every day from 9 am to 9 pm
Spar in Surulere is a solid choice if you’re looking for a well-stocked supermarket with a wide selection.
The location is easy to access, and there’s ample parking, which is a big plus in this part of Lagos.
It gets quite busy, but you’ll most likely find whatever you came for, from groceries to fresh-baked bread (which is actually really good) and ready-to-eat meals.
The store layout feels spacious and organised, and while it’s not my top Spar branch, it still does the job.
I also really like how the building looks at night. The outside lighting gives it a clean, modern vibe.
Most items are decently priced, though electronics and gadgets tend to be on the high side.
2. Everbright Supermarkets

- Address: 83 Bode Thomas St, Surulere, Lagos 101212, Lagos
- Operating hours: Monday to Saturday (8:30 am–9:30 pm), Sunday (1–8:30 pm)
Everbright Supermarket is right next to Margharelos in Surulere.
It’s not a big place, but somehow, they manage to stock almost everything, from household stuff to frozen foods, cakes, and even those trendy Oxy cleaning beads.
It’s one of those supermarkets where you’ll find items other stores don’t usually have.
Things are well arranged, so it’s easy to find what you’re looking for. There’s an upstairs and downstairs section, and they’ve got multiple cashiers, which helps.
Even when it gets busy in the evenings, service is still fairly quick. Prices are fair, and they accept cards and transfers without drama.
The only real issue is parking; not nearly enough space for the number of people that come here.
3. Shoprite (Adeniran Ogunsanya Shopping Mall)

- Address: Adeniran Ogunsanya St, Surulere, Lagos 101241, Lagos
- Operating hours: Every day (9 am–9 pm)
Shoprite at Adeniran Ogunsanya Mall is decent if you just want to get in, shop, and get out.
Shopping is usually smooth and pretty fast, but the biggest headache is parking, with barely any space for cars.
I’ve been here so many times, and while I usually get everything I need (including a cake I once bought for a friend), the crowd can be overwhelming. Still, if you know how to navigate, you’ll be fine.
One annoying part is the number of people hanging around outside trying to beg or sell you random stuff, super frustrating.
Inside the mall, signs and directions aren’t very helpful, so finding certain stores can be confusing.
That said, the environment is okay, and you have access to a bunch of other shops and restaurants besides Shoprite.
It’s a good enough spot, just don’t come with high expectations.
4. D-Arena

- Address: 2, Ajao Street, by Olufemi Street, Off Ogunlana Dr, Surulere, Lagos
- Operating hours: Every day (8 am–9:30 pm)
D-Arena Supermarket is one of those low-key gems in town. The customer service is genuinely top-notch, and they stock a great variety of products.
Even though the supermarket is just on the ground floor, it’s surprisingly packed with almost everything you’d need.
This includes groceries, wines, frozen foods, fashion items, electronics, cosmetics, perfumes, baby products, books, and stationery. You name it.
Prices are relatively affordable, too, which makes shopping here even better.
There’s also a car park, but it’s quite small, so parking might be tight during busy hours.
5. Tiptop Superstores

- Address: 11 Ogunlana Dr, Surulere, Lagos 101283, Lagos
- Operating hours: Every day (8 am–9:30 pm)
They’ve been around for a while and have held their ground despite new competitors popping up nearby, and that says a lot.
The store recently got a nice upgrade and expansion, and you can really feel the difference. It’s located right on Ogunlana Drive, close to the traffic light, so it’s easy to find.
Inside, you’ll find a wide range of original products at competitive prices. From household essentials to bar items, they’ve got most of what you need.
The staff, especially the cashiers, are always friendly, and the store has a clean, inviting vibe.
That said, it can feel a little cramped at times because they’re so well-stocked that navigating and finding certain items can be a challenge.
6. The Label Store

- Address: 25 Adetola St, Ijesha Tedo, Lagos 101241, Lagos
- Operating hours: Monday to Saturday (8 am–10 pm), Sunday (10 am–10 pm)
The Label Store is one of those supermarkets that gives you that clean, cosy vibe the moment you walk in.
The place is super neat and well-organized, and they’ve got a solid range of stuff, from groceries to drinks, flowers, cakes, and even kitchen utensils.
Customer service is top-notch. The staff are polite, helpful, and genuinely make shopping feel stress-free.
You can tell they’re trained to care about your experience.
But some items here are noticeably on the high side.
For example, I once saw a charcoal toothpaste and brush combo going for over N4,000, which I later saw for N2,500 at KnP in Aguda.
So yes, Label Store has a more “premium supermarket” vibe, and their prices reflect that.
If you don’t mind paying a little extra for quality, cleanliness, and a calm shopping experience, it’s a great place to stop by.
Tips For Shopping at Surulere Supermarkets We Wish We Knew
During our review, we would have kept these in mind.
And, they will be helpful, especially if you’re exploring these supermarkets for the first time:
1. Go With a List, and Stick to It
These supermarkets are packed with all kinds of tempting items, from imported cereals to wine, cheese, and even perfumes.
But you’ll end up spending twice as much if you don’t have a list.
The aisles are neat and attractive.
If you’re not focused, you’ll leave with a Bluetooth speaker instead of the baby wipes you came for.
2. Go During Off-Peak Hours
If you hate crowds or standing in long queues, avoid supermarket runs between 5 pm and 8 pm on weekdays, and 12 pm–4 pm on weekends.
That’s when most people are shopping after work or church.
Early morning (around 9 am – 11 am) is the best time if you want fresh stock and faster checkout.
SPAR, for instance, gets packed during lunch break and after work.
3. Check Expiry Dates, Always
Don’t assume that because it’s a nice-looking supermarket, everything is fresh.
In fact, some of the imported goods, like chocolates and canned items, are closer to expiry than you’d think.
Especially in the less-busy supermarkets, old stock tends to stay on shelves. Always check the production and expiry dates before buying.
4. Don’t Judge a Store by the Outside
Some of the best-priced markets in Surulere don’t look like much from the outside.
You might walk past The Label Store and not think it’s worth stepping inside, but inside, they sometimes beat SPAR’s prices on things like wine, butter, and foreign snacks.
Meanwhile, beyond supermarkets, Surulere is a superb place to hang out, chill, create memories, unwind, and enjoy the serenity.
You only need to get to the place that is perfect for the kind of relaxation you need.
