1. Adeniran Ogunsanya Shopping Mall (SHOPRITE)
- Address: Adeniran Ogunsanya St, Surulere, Lagos 101241, Lagos
- What makes it special: You get to shop for probably all that you’re looking for. Nice Chilling spot in Surulere too.
Everything you need is available here, and you might find yourself wanting to shop even more because of the low prices. They have a wide variety of products, from groceries to household items and more.
There’s also a fruit section where you can pick from a variety of fresh fruits.
The atmosphere is wonderful, and the staff are friendly and attentive. The entrance is wheelchair accessible, making it easy for people with disabilities to shop comfortably.
It can get crowded during festive periods so we’d recommend you don’t go during those times as you may meet scary queues.
2. Leisure Mall
- Address: Adeniran Ogunsanya St, Surulere 101241, Lagos
- Opening times: 9am to 10pm (Opens 11am on Sundays)
- What makes it special: Strategic location in the heart of Surulere, has all you’d need to shop for, chilling spots.
Leisure Mall is a fun spot with a little bit of everything – shopping, games, restaurants, a coffee shop, a mini-mart, a spa, and cool spots for pictures. I had a great time there!
It has Spar supermarket, fast food joints, jewelry stores, and other shops you’d love to check out.
The mall is right next to Shoprite Mall. Parking costs ₦500, but finding a spot during rush hours can be a hassle. There’s also a bar and lots of other businesses inside.
It’s a great place to chill and hang out – whether with friends, family, or even your partner.
What makes it awesome:
- Filmhouse Cinema
- A food court with places like Debonairs and Cold Stone
- Arcade games and virtual reality
- Plenty of shopping options
Sometimes, it feels too quiet and given how popular it is, you might just run into your ex!
3. Tejuosho Ultra-Modern Shopping Centre
- Address: Ojuelegba Rd, Yaba, Lagos 101241, Lagos
- Opening times: 7:30am to 7:30pm
- What makes it special: Real market feel, fabrics at cheap prices, and easy to locate.
Tejuosho is closer to the Yaba axis. It is a busy place filled with buying and selling, with traders hustling to make a living. You’ll see all kinds of products on display—clothes, shoes, bags, cosmetics, food, and more.
The environment is lively, and you can find almost anything you need, especially clothes, household items, and foodstuffs. Just make sure to keep an eye on your belongings.
Most importantly, carry cash or be ready to pay extra for POS charges. Avoid bank transfers if possible – they might keep you waiting until the payment is confirmed.
From the newly built flyover, the view is amazing! You can see traders selling Christmas items, food vendors, and clothing merchants all around the complex.
The Zenith Bank inside is a smart addition, making it easy for people to deposit or withdraw large amounts of money.
This place was originally designed for a 24/7 shopping center but recently, it has an opening and closing time. But the underground parking system is fantastic.
4. Iponri Shopping Centre
- Address: 400 Iponri Under Bridge U-Turn, Alaka, Lagos 101241, Lagos
- Opening times: 8 am to 6 pm (Opens 10:30 am on Thursdays)
- What makes it special: Best place to shop for household items and decor.
Iponri Shopping Complex is a busy one-story marketplace with numerous labeled shop blocks.
The layout can be a bit confusing due to its similar-looking walkways.
Shops face the main road, but parking is a major challenge-you’ll have to use the nearby estate parking, which comes at a fee.
The market is a great place to shop for household items, party souvenirs, school supplies, baby products, and interior decorations.
Prices are generally affordable, and quality products are available. Drinks can also be purchased in bulk.
Parking remains the biggest issue here. Spaces are limited, and entry into the market costs ₦500.
Traders often place car tires on the road to block spots for their customers, refusing to remove them for others.
5. Eko Farmer’s Mart
- Address: 46 Benson St, Surulere, Lagos 101283, Lagos
- Opening times: 8 am to 8 pm (opens 10 am on Sundays)
- What makes it special: Great shop for food items at cheap prices. No crowd.
If you’re looking for a place to buy fresh food items without dealing with a crowded market, this is a great spot.
They sell all kinds of farm produce, foodstuffs, and even livestock products. You’ll also find fresh fruits, healthy drinks, and a good variety of African spices.
The store is well-organized, so you won’t have to squeeze through a crowd to get what you need.
Plus, paying is easy – whether you prefer POS or bank transfer.
If you hate the stress of big, busy markets, you’ll love shopping here.
It’s calm, convenient, and has everything you need for your kitchen.
6. Grandex Stores
- Address: 63 Adelabu St, Surulere, Lagos 101241, Lagos
- Opening times: 9 am–7:30 pm (opens 1 pm on Sundays)
- What makes it special: Household items, fresh bread, neighborhood plug-in Adelabu.
For many people in Adelabu, Grandex is the go-to supermarket for snacks, toiletries, and household essentials. It’s not really a mall but they offer a lot!!
It’s easy to become a big fan of their biscuit, chocolate, and drink selection. They stock even alot of foreign products.
Plus, as far as we can tell, they’re the only store in Adelabu that sells tortilla bread – which explains why they are well patronized.
The prices are fair, and it’s a great neighborhood store with a wide variety of everyday household items.
Their products are always fresh, and the staff are super helpful when you need assistance.
One thing to note: parking is by the roadside, but there’s usually enough space.
They also have a bakery about 300 meters away towards Masha Road.
If you’re looking for quality groceries, affordable prices, and friendly service, Grandex is definitely worth checking out.
7. Kings Plaza
- Address: 80 Adeniran Ogunsanya St, Surulere, Lagos
- Opening times: 8 am–6 pm (Closed on Sundays)
- What makes it special: Beautiful, event centers.
Kings Plaza is a nice, clean shopping plaza – not too big, but well-organized. It has a ground floor and two extra floors.
On the ground floor, you’ll find a few financial institutions, an internet service provider, and a superstore.
The first floor has shops like a beauty store and another selling toilet and kitchen ceramics.
There are also two small event halls here. The second floor is where you’ll find the larger event hall, which can seat about 200 guests.
It’s spacious and has nice wall murals, good lighting, and an air-cooling system.
There aren’t many shops, but you’ll find businesses like Renmoney, Chi Shop, and Swift Internet Services.
The plaza has three event halls, equipped with banquet or plastic chairs, tables, and ACs.
The smaller halls cost about ₦350,000, while the bigger one goes for ₦650,000.
Parking is a real challenge here – there are only about 8 to 10 parking slots, depending on the size of the cars.
8. Spar market Surulere
- Address: Adeniran Ogunsanya St, Surulere, Lagos 101211, Lagos
- Opening times: 9 am–9 pm
- What makes it special:
When you get to Leisure Mall, you can locate the Spar Supermarket. It’s also another popular option in Surulere.
This SPAR store is a smaller branch.
It’s not as big as the Yaba or Ilupeju branches, but it still manages to stock a wide range of products, from groceries to household essentials, food, toiletries, and electronics.
Their bakery is one of the best part – they make fresh, soft bread and tasty cooked meals at affordable prices.
They also have a decent collection of wine and alcohol, plus regular promotions on many items.
One downside is that parking isn’t free – it starts from ₦200, depending on how long you stay.
Also, weekends can be really crowded, and some items might be out of stock, so it’s best to shop during the week if you want a stress-free experience.
What Makes an Ideal Shopping Mall in Surulere?
These are the things we carefully look at when considering a great shopping mall in Surulere, and it applies to most other places.
- A Good Mix of Shops: From fashion and electronics to groceries and beauty stores, a great mall should have everything you need under one roof.
- Affordable and High-End Options: Whether you’re on a budget or feeling like splurging, a mall should cater to all shoppers.
- Easy Parking: Lagos traffic is stressful enough; a good mall should have a spacious and secure parking lot.
- Great Food Court: Shopping is fun, but food makes it better. The ideal mall should have a variety of restaurants and fast food spots.
- Entertainment Spots: A cinema, arcade, or even a play area for kids can make a mall more interesting to visit
- Security and Clean Environment: No one wants to shop in a dirty or unsafe place. Good security and cleanliness are a must.
- Good Location and Accessibility: A great mall should be easy to find and have smooth access for cars and pedestrians. Fortunately, Surulere has great interconnectedness for landmarks.
5 Mistakes to Avoid When Shopping at Malls in Surulere
The popular mistake many people make, especially when they are new to an area and visit a mall around is walking in without a plan.
Walking into a mall without a list or budget can lead to overspending on things you don’t need.
But here are five other important mistakes you’d want to avoid, especially if you’re visiting the mall for the first time.
- Ignoring Price Comparisons – Just because something is in a mall doesn’t mean it’s the best deal. Check different stores within that mall before buying.
- Forgetting to Check for Discounts: Some stores have promo deals, but they won’t always tell you. Always ask or look out for sales signs.
- Carrying Too Much Cash: Malls can attract pickpockets, so it’s safer to use a card or mobile payment where possible. Many stores even prefer this option over cash. It’s easier.
- Not Dressing Comfortably: Shopping takes time, and walking around in tight shoes or heavy clothes can make it exhausting. There are no rules as to what you should or shouldn’t wear. But let comfort simply be the priority.
- Ignoring Parking Rules: If you park carelessly, your car could get towed or blocked in, ruining your shopping experience. There are even some stores that place a fine for wrong packing.
Final Take
In the end, we had the best shopping experience in malls around Adeniran Ogunsanya, especially at the AOS ShopRite Mall.
If you live around this neighborhood, then lucky you.
But all the shopping centers on this list come with a lot of packages. They are all modern shopping malls featuring other brands, restaurants, and a cinema, providing you and your loved ones with the best experience.
But if you want a market feel, go to the Tejosho option near Yaba. The market is divided into two phases and contains over two thousand shops and various food spots.
It’s the best spot to easily find affordable goods, including textiles, electronics, and cosmetics.
