Full Review of the Best Hotels to Lodge at in Surulere
We considered the location, cleanliness, facilities, comfort, staff, free WiFi, and of course, the value for money.
1. Mitos Luxury Suites
- Address: 28 Johnson St, Bode Thomas, Surulere, Lagos 101241, Lagos
- Price: From N35,000 per night
- Contact: 08085484925
Mitos Luxury Suites offers a pleasant stay with well-kept rooms, excellent service, and a relaxing atmosphere.
The hotel is in a peaceful location, making it ideal for a quiet night’s stay, whether alone or with a partner. However, the rooms are quite small. During our visit, we paid ₦35,000 for a room, which was fairly priced.
One of the highlights is their variety of local dishes, which are reasonably priced and worth trying.
However, one area that needs improvement is the breakfast schedule – it would be helpful if they set a fixed time for breakfast, preferably as early as 8:00 AM or even earlier.
A minor downside is the limited parking space. Additionally, guests were previously required to return before 12:00 AM because the estate gate would be locked, restricting access to the hotel.
UPDATE: A team member has confirmed that this is no longer the case.
2. Great Ville Hotels
- Address: 36/38 Nathan off Ojuelegba Road Surulere Local Government, Lagos 101283
- Price: from N44,000 per night
- Contact: 09031551811
Great Ville Hotels offers a peaceful and comfortable stay. Although the location isn’t the most ideal, once inside, the serene atmosphere makes up for it. The hotel is quiet, clean, and well-maintained, making it a great choice.
The service stood out – staff members were polite, respectful, and always ready to assist. One thoughtful touch was their provision for Sahur during Ramadan, which showed their dedication to guest comfort.
The rooms were spotless and well-kept. The food was excellent and worth trying. The pool lounge is small but cozy. The gym is well-equipped and a nice addition.
The hot water worked, but it fluctuated at times. WiFi was reliable, except during rain. Power supply was stable throughout our stay.
The hotel entrance is wheelchair accessible. There is also a bar with a good selection of drinks. Parking space is limited, but sufficient for a small crowd.
One thing to note: be ready to climb stairs, as there are no elevators.
If you’re looking for a luxury hotel in Ojuelegba, near the Tejuosho axis, Great Ville Hotels is a solid choice for a weekend getaway, corporate retreat, or family gathering.
3. Ontario suites
- Address: 2 Agunlejika St, Surulere, Lagos 102215, Lagos
- Price: From 25,000 per night
- Contact: 08163380792
We’ve stayed at Ontario Suites multiple times, and one thing we love is the consistency. The rooms are always clean, well-decorated, and exactly as advertised. Everything feels fresh and well-maintained, and the air conditioning is ice-cold – perfect after a long day.
Security is also a big plus. The RFID card locks on the doors will make you feel safe, and the WiFi is super fast.
One of the highlights of our stay was the water heater, especially with the chilly weather. They also have WiFi and Netflix, though you’ll have to pay extra for Netflix access.
The overall ambiance is top-notch, and we’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great stay at an affordable rate in Surulere.
Another thing we liked is the location—it’s right next to Ijesha Market/Road, making it easy to get around.
4. Vintage Suites
- Address: 15c Akinhanmi St, Surulere, Lagos 101241, Lagos
- Price: from N20,000 per night
- Website
- Contact: 08063156424
For the price, the service here is fair compared to other hotels nearby. The rooms are of average size, and while the bathroom had a water heater, it didn’t have a shower, so we had to use a bucket instead.
One thing we really appreciated was the uninterrupted power supply throughout our 15-hour stay.
Vintage Suites is in a convenient location, with banks, interstate bus terminals, quick-service restaurants, bars, and lounges all within reach. It’s also walkable. You can easily walk to various bus terminals and even Ojuelegba bus stop.
Security is decent, with keycard locks on the doors. The parking space isn’t very large, but it’s well managed.
Overall, if you’re looking for an affordable place with steady power, good security, and a great location, Vintage Suites gets the job done.
5. Kelin Hotel and Suites
- Address: 2 Bola Shadipe St, Masha, Lagos 101233, Lagos
- Price: From N30,000 per night
- Contact: 07069142552
This is a cozy spot for both business and private stays, offering moderate prices, which makes sense considering the rising electricity and fuel costs.
The lounge is nice, stocked with a variety of drinks, and they even sell cigarettes for those who need them. The location feels secure, which is always a plus.
Overall, we had a good experience, though the hotel itself is quite basic. We chose it mainly because it fit our budget and was close to where we needed to be.
The place seems fairly well-maintained, but one downside was having to climb two floors up and down… not exactly fun.
Would we stay again? Maybe, if convenience is the priority.
6. Perch Hotel and Suites
- Address: 27/29 Ikale St, Surulere, Lagos 101241, Lagos
- Price: From N27,000 Per night
- Website
- Contact: 08163058282
Perch is another hotel in Ogunlana Drive that makes sense and is worth lodging in. Perch Hotel & Suites is in a semi-quiet area with easy access to major roads, making it a convenient and comfortable stay.
It does have a home-away-from-home feel. For us, it was a decent stay, but there were a few surprises.
The online price showed ₦25,000, but when we arrived, we were told to pay ₦27,500—not a great first impression.
Some things could have been better – no water heater or hot water, local TV channels weren’t clear, and the AC wasn’t working properly. However, the bedding was fine, and we loved the aesthetic, environment, and location.
Pro tip: Don’t book the Diplomatic Room – it’s basically the same as the Deluxe Suite, but with a ₦5,000 price difference.
If you can get the Deluxe Suite, go for it! It’s limited in number, but worth it.
7. Blue AO Hotel and Suites
- Address: 64 Aborishade Rd, Lawanson, Lagos 102215, Lagos
- Price: From N36,000
Blue AO isn’t talked about much, but it definitely deserves more attention.
This hotel is amazing, the staff are excellent, the food is great, and the service is prompt, making it feel like a true home away from home.
The VIP lounge is a great spot to relax and unwind, offering a comfortable atmosphere and delicious food that left a lasting impression on us.
One thing that really stood out was the cozy rooms. They are perfect for a comfortable and relaxing stay. If you’re in Lawanson and looking for a great place to stay, this is a solid choice.
8. Beni Hotel
- Address: Doyin Bus Stop, 27 Jimoh Odutola St, Surulere, Lagos 101241, Lagos
- Price: From N37,000 per night
- Contact: 08137873855
Finding hotels in the Eric Moore neighborhood of Surulere isn’t hard. There are plenty of them.
But Beni Hotel stands out as one of the more popular options. Most bike riders know it, so getting there is easy.
The hotel is just a 5-minute walk from The Cathedral Church of Christ and has 89 rooms.
If you’re looking for a well-known and accessible place to stay in this area, Beni Hotel is a solid choice.
9. De Rigg Place
- Address: Estate, National Stadium side, 6 Rafiu Shittu St, Alaka, Lagos
- Price: From N38,000 per night
- Website
- Contact: 08165471924
De Rigg Place is discreetly located in a secure estate, with easy access to the expressway, a bank, a pedestrian bridge, and the Alaka bus stop. The staffs are polite and respectful, and the reception was warm and welcoming.
The rooms are clean, well-stocked with toiletries, and graded to satisfaction. One nice perk is that cars are kept secure and even washed for free, though it’s good to tip as a courtesy.
While the service was generally great, there were a few downsides. The Wi-Fi only allows one device, but the receptionist was kind enough to create a login for a team member’s laptop.
Other small issues:
- TV quality was poor
- Chicken/bar service was slow
- Breakfast portions were too small for the price
That said, it’s one of the best family-friendly hotels in Surulere with good customer service and decent rooms. A clean and comfortable option if you’re in the area.
10. Benestar Suites
- Address: 34 Tafawa Balewa Cres, Surulere, Lagos 101241, Lagos
- Price: From N26,000 per night
- Website
- Contact: 07014575375
BeneStar Suites is a solid choice if you’re looking for a comfortable and reliable stay in the Adediran Ogunsanya area of Surulere.
They guarantee 24-hour electricity and service. The location is a major asset. Easily accessible, with well-paved roads and a friendly environment.
The atmosphere is serene, making it a great spot for relaxation. They offer affordable presidential suites, and their bar is well-stocked with a variety of whiskeys, brandies, and wines. It’s also easy to find in the heart of Surulere.
While we had a generally pleasant experience, there were a few drawbacks:
- The bathroom in the Super Deluxe Room was way too small
- No bath mats provided (this might just be nitpicking though)
On the bright side, the rooms are pretty, with full-length mirrors and vanity lights, which we appreciated. Also, our car was washed overnight for free, which was a nice touch.
Heads-up: This is a no-smoking hotel, so if that’s important to you, keep it in mind.
Things to Consider Before Booking Hotel In Surulere
To avoid any nasty surprises, you need to consider several important factors to ensure a smooth, comfortable, and safe stay when booking a hotel in Surulere.
1. Location and Accessibility
The location of your hotel is a top priority.
Whether you’re in Surulere for business, leisure, or an event, choose a hotel that is close to the places you’ll be visiting (e.g., National Stadium, Teslim Balogun Stadium, Adeniran Ogunsanya Mall).
Check if the hotel is near major roads, bus stops, or BRT stations. If you’ll be using Uber, Bolt, or taxis, ensure these services operate well in that area.
If you have meetings or appointments, pick a hotel with easy access to major routes like Western Avenue or Funsho Williams Avenue.
2. Budget and Pricing
Hotels in Surulere come in different price ranges. We generally recommend not going for ones that have too cheap listings. It’s easier to find when you have your budget cap at N35,000 per night upwards.
The hotels we reviewed are mostly between 3- and 4-star rated, so they are not exactly 5-star or luxury that should have cost up to N200,000 per night as we see in the Island.
Some hotels charge extra for breakfast, parking, or late check-out. Confirm these details before booking.
3. Security and Safety
Your safety is crucial when choosing a hotel. Does the hotel have 24/7 security personnel, CCTV cameras, and gated access?
Some parts of Surulere are safer than others. Areas like Adeniran Ogunsanya and Bode Thomas are considered safer than some inner streets.
For the hotels in this post, we were sure to first check online reviews to see if guests have complained about theft, break-ins, or harassment.
4. Booking Policy and Cancellation Terms
Before making a payment at the reception, ask about their refund policy. If your plans change, will you get a refund?
Confirm the hotel’s check-in and check-out times to avoid extra charges. For most of the hotels we reviewed, the check-out time was 12pm the next day. So even if you checked in at 9pm today, one day would be completed at 11:59 am the next day.
Also be sure if the hotel accepts cash, transfers, or card payments.
